CPN-UML Deputy Secretary General Pradeep Gyawali has made it clear that in the present situation, it is not possible to go to the system of directly elected Prime Minister and President.

Gyawali said this while speaking at a program on government practices and government influence organized by the Constitution Monitoring Group on Thursday.

He said, ‘Nepal cannot go to the system of directly elected president and prime minister by amending the constitution right now. This practice cannot be done in a country like ours.

He said that the current government, which is made up of two major parties, Congress and UML, will do some work on the amendment of the constitution and said that there will be serious discussion and debate before the amendment of the constitution.

He said, “The constitution we have made will not be amended on the same basis. There will be a serious discussion on this matter.” By reviewing the achievements made in the 10 years since the implementation of the constitution, the shortcomings are taken to the path of improvement.

He also claimed that the Congress-UML alliance will move forward according to the 7-point agreement to ensure stability and complete tenure in the country.
